Uses: Oil of Juniper is given as a diuretic, stomachic, and carminative in indigestion, flatulence, and diseases of the kidney and bladder.
In herbal medicine, spirit of juniper has been used as a carminative and as a steam inhalant in the management of bronchitis. An infusion of juniper (made of the berries and boiling water) has been used to treat wounds and inflammatory diseases. It also is used to control arthritis. Because of its local irritant action on the bladder, juniper also has been used as a diuretic.
